A Little About Me.

Andrea England is the author of Other Geographies (2017, Creative Justice Press) and Inventory of a Field (2014, Finishing Line Press). Her work has appeared in Midwestern Gothic, Sonora Review, The 3288 Review and others. Most recently she had the honor of being a Writer-in-Residence at Firefly Farms (SAFTA). She lives and works in Kalamazoo Michigan, where she teaches English and Creative Writing for various universities and organizations.

The rural Midwest (farming) probably influences my work the most. I think that as poets, we all write about similar issues and experiences. It’s the landscape that distinguishes one from another. Most of my poems, no matter what the context, begin with a singular, textured, image. These images depend on the atmosphere around them. For instance, think of what humidity does to your hair… Or roosters.
